New Study on Linux TCO

by admin posted at 2006-02-18 14:15 last modified 2006-10-22 17:12

I guess we all know Microsofts "Get The Facts" Campaign, which tells us all how much cheaper it is to use Microsoft instead of Linux. Of course all these Case Studies and Whitepapers have been widely discussed.

The Open Source Development Labs (OSDL)  have now issued a Study which tells us that Linux is cheaper when it comes to TCO than Microsoft. Quote:

"However, in a new study of over 200 Linux enterprises, Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) found that this perception is no longer accurate. Sophisticated management tools now allow Linux management to be fast, effective, and inexpensive. With far lower acquisition costs, Linux is now a cost-effective alternative to Windows."

...and I wasn't really surprised to read that :-)

The Study was done by Levanta, check this page for further information and the pdf File.
